EDGE helped Smiths Detection build on the success and trusted technology of the IONSCAN family of trace detectors. EDGE applied ergonomic design and graphical user interface GUI display, and full PC functionality and networking capabilities. These detectors – over 6000 – are in use by aviation security, government and law enforcement agencies, the military and by private security companies. EDGE help Smiths Detection design an advanced sampling wand which eliminated the need for the operator to handle the sample swab after every sample, and with a regenerative Air Purification System (APS), which reduced maintenance and cost of ownership. EDGE also contributed to the development of the IONSCAN proprietary software – allowing for ease of operator navigation and analysis of results.
